Banana Nice Cream (Print Version)

Whipped frozen bananas create a velvety, guilt-free dessert perfect for hot days or healthy cravings.

# What You Need:

→ Base

01 - 3 large ripe bananas, peeled and sliced into 1-inch rounds

→ Optional Add-ins

02 - 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
03 - 1 to 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
04 - 2 tablespoons nut butter (almond or peanut)

→ Optional Toppings

05 - Fresh berries, chopped nuts, or dark chocolate chips for garnish

# Directions:

01 - Peel the bananas and cut them into 1-inch slices. Arrange the pieces in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
02 - Place the baking sheet in the freezer for at least 2 hours, or until the banana slices are completely solid.
03 - Transfer the frozen banana slices to a high-speed blender or food processor. Blend until smooth and creamy, pausing to scrape down the sides as needed.
04 - If desired, add vanilla extract, cocoa powder, or nut butter and blend again until fully incorporated.
05 - Serve immediately for a soft-serve consistency, or transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze for 1 to 2 hours for a firmer texture.
06 - Top with fresh berries, chopped nuts, or dark chocolate chips as desired and serve.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • It tastes like soft serve ice cream but its literally just frozen bananas transformed in a blender.
  • You probably already have everything you need sitting on your counter right now.
02 -
  • The blending stage goes through an awkward crumbly phase that looks like it will never work, but keep going and it magically turns silky around the two minute mark.
  • A splash of plant based milk can rescue a blender thats struggling, but go easy because too much liquid turns ice cream into a smoothie.
03 -
  • Slice bananas before freezing instead of freezing them whole, because pre frozen whole bananas will break your blender and your spirit.
  • The riper the banana, the sweeter the result, so those completely black ones you almost threw away are actually perfect.
