Chocolate Chip Banana Bread (Print Version)

Moist banana bread loaded with sweet chocolate chips, ideal for breakfast or a tasty snack.

# What You Need:

→ Wet Ingredients

01 - 3 ripe bananas, mashed
02 - 2 large eggs
03 - ½ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
04 - ½ cup light brown sugar
05 - ¼ cup granulated sugar
06 - 1 tsp vanilla extract

→ Dry Ingredients

07 - 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
08 - 1 tsp baking soda
09 - ½ tsp salt

→ Add-ins

10 - 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

# Directions:

01 - Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and line a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
02 - In a large bowl, whisk together the mashed bananas, eggs, melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
03 - In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
04 - Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined—do not overmix.
05 - Gently fold in the chocolate chips, reserving a small handful for topping if desired.
06 - Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle reserved chocolate chips on top.
07 - Bake for 50–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean (a few melted chocolate streaks are fine).
08 - Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The texture is incredibly moist without being dense or heavy
  • Chocolate chips add just the right amount of sweetness to balance the banana flavor
02 -
  • Overmixing develops too much gluten, making the bread tough instead of tender
  • Every oven is different, so start checking for doneness at the 50 minute mark
03 -
  • Place a pan of water on the rack below your bread to keep the oven moist and prevent the top from cracking too much
  • If the top browns too quickly, tent it loosely with aluminum foil for the last 15 minutes of baking
