Chocolate Banana Bites (Print Version)

Bite-sized frozen bananas dipped in chocolate and topped for a sweet, refreshing treat.

# What You Need:

→ Fruit

01 - 3 large ripe bananas, peeled

→ Chocolate

02 - 7 oz dark chocolate (60–70% cocoa), chopped

→ Optional Toppings

03 - 2 tbsp chopped roasted nuts (almonds, peanuts, pistachios)
04 - 2 tbsp unsweetened shredded coconut
05 - 2 tbsp rainbow or chocolate sprinkles

→ Other

06 - 1 tbsp coconut oil or neutral vegetable oil (optional, for smoother chocolate)

# Directions:

01 - Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
02 - Cut bananas into ½-inch thick rounds and arrange in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
03 - Place the banana slices in the freezer for at least 1 hour until firm.
04 - Gently melt the dark chocolate with coconut oil (if using) in 20–30 second bursts in the microwave or over a double boiler, stirring until smooth.
05 - Remove frozen banana rounds and dip each into the melted chocolate using a fork or toothpick, ensuring full coverage.
06 - Place coated banana bites on the baking sheet and immediately sprinkle with your choice of toppings before the chocolate sets.
07 - Return the tray to the freezer for at least 1 hour until the chocolate is firm.
08 - Serve frozen. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • They're ready in minutes of actual work, and the freezer does the rest while you do something else.
  • You can dress them up or keep them bare, depending on what's in your pantry or who you're feeding.
  • They taste indulgent but you're still eating fruit, which feels like a small victory.
02 -
  • If you skip freezing the bananas first, the chocolate won't stick properly and you'll end up with a melted mess.
  • Stir the chocolate gently and don't overheat it or it will seize up and turn grainy instead of smooth.
03 -
  • Use a toothpick instead of a fork for dipping if you want less chocolate pooling around the base of each bite.
  • If the chocolate starts to thicken as it cools, warm it gently for a few seconds to bring it back to dipping consistency.
